DAT Optic Inc has designed this bridge board to attach ATA/ATAPI device to provide a connection solution to different host computer via a USB 1.1, USB 2.0 or FireWire/IEEE-1394 connection. Once connected thru FireWire or USB1.1 or USB2.0 connection, attached drive is detected and mounted automatically with the appropriate protocol.
1394U-IDE provides a high-speed data connection between ATA/ATAPI peripheral devices and either a 1394/FireWire computer port or a USB computer port. The 1394U-IDE FireWire bridge provides a fully IEEE 1394 compliant link layer while integrating the 1394 physical interface (PHY) and the ATA/ATAPI interface. The USB bridge provide an EHCI based USB 2.0 compliant solution, with backwards compatibility to USB 1.1.

All FireWire drivers are available within Win98SE, ME, 2K, XP, and Apple Mac OS 8.6 or higher. USB hardware configures itself for each device creating a true plug-n-play environment. The 1394U-IDE bridge provides a USB connection point for use with computers that have USB 1.1 or USB 2.0 capability.
