DAT Optic proudly introduces the EF8U3-D, the FIRST compact DUAL 3.5" drive FireWire 800 (1394b) and USB2.0 metal enclosure which offers system intergtors and computer enthusiasts to have an the first Combo Dual Drive External Storage Enclosure with USB2.0 and FireWire 800, which can be use across computers that has either USB1.1, USB2.0, FireWire 400 or FireWire 800 The DUAL Hard drive enclosure is hot plug-able with a built-in high-performance USB2.0 and FireWire 800Mbps(1394b) bridge board with 1394 payload of 4096 instead of 2048, and support 48-bit sector addressing (138GB+ HDD), there is no HDD size and hyper speed of data transfer limitations. EF8U3-D provides an advanced solution to connect TWO ATAPI or ATA (IDE/EIDE) devices to an IEEE-1394b interface with an integrated 32-bit CPU and embedded SRAM. To provide high performance and a cost effective solution, the EF8U3-D integrates a 1394b link core, ATA control block and microprocessor into a DUAL bay enclosure. Our EF8U2-D delivers a data transfer rate of up to 800 Mbits/sec on FireWire 800 (1394) interface (100 MBytes/sec), while its ATA interface supports fully support ultra DMA modes (33/66/100/133 MBytes/sec) with no limitation of HDD size and 1394 payload is 4096 instead of 2048. EF8U2 with built-in USB 2.0 transceiver at high-speed 480mbps and utilize the bi-directional ping-pong buffers for maximized USB2.0 throughput operation and external standard micro-controller (MCU, our EF8U2 offers the highest speed in USB2.0 connection up to TWO ATA/ATAPI devices, with full support PIO/DMA and ATA-133 Available and ready to ship, our EF8U3-D provides an essential solution and data rates to next-generation storage used in high-end applications, such as audio/video (A/V) editing. Our EF8U3-D offers full FireWire 800 and ATA-7 (800MB/s and 133MB/s, respectively), USB2.0 speed (480mbps) as well as software RAID 0,1, in Win2K, XP or MAC OSx.
