DAT Optic, Inc.'s FireWire Enclosure is an external enclosure with a built-in high-performance IDE to 1394/USB2.0 bridge adapter to convert IDE CDROM/CD-RW, DVDROM/DVD-RW/DVD+RW, HDD, MO devices into FireWire/USB2.0 devices. These peripherals can be quickly and reliably converted to plug-and-play FireWire and USB2.0 versions, with support for both ATA and ATAPI devices. With the integrated Serial Bus Protocal (SBP-2), it can use generic device drivers available in the Microsoft Windows 98SE and Windows 2000 operating systems. Mac or iMac system requires Mac-CDR or Adaptec Topas CD-Burning softwares if IDE CD-RW drive is installed.
